The German auto major, Volkswagen is no doubt known to be one of the most aspiring and aggressive companies among all the car manufacturers. He also added that the VW group has aims to sell about 10 million vehicles annually by 2018 to achieve world domination. How is Volkswagen going to do it? TVS Develops New Automatic Transmission

The Hosur based Indian 2 wheeler company, TVS Motors today announced that the company has developed a new technology that can enhance fuel efficiency by as much as 20% when compared to the conventional technologies utilized by the manufacturers. TVS calls this new technology ‘TVS Automatic Transmission’. In this technology, the company employs an automatic transmission in place of the conventional Continuously Variable Transmission Technology (CVT) technology used in all the gearless scooters. The electric 2 wheeler division of Hero Motorcycles led by Vijay Munjal, Hero Eco has acquired the UK based electric 2 wheeler firm, Ultra Motors for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition according to the company has been made in a move to strengthen its presence in the global electric vehciel segment. Hero Eco, the newly formed umbrella entity includes Hero Electric, Hero Exports, Hero Cycles, Mediva and Hero Ecotech. GM Reveals 2012 Auto Expo Plans

The 2012 Auto Expo to be held in Delhi from January 7th to 11th is drawing nearer and auto makers are gearing up to make their presence felt the motor show, touted as one of the biggest automobile extravaganza in the world. The US car maker, GM under the Chevrolet brand has recently revealed its plans on what is to be expected from its stall at the Auto Expo. In total, the company is planning on showcasing 6 cars at the motor show. The first undoubtedly worth mentioning would be the WTCC Chevrolet Cruze that is definitely going to be one of the show stunners. This rally car boasts of a 2 litre 4 cylinder engine with a 64 mm throttle body plenum with internal trumpets that produces a massive 285 BHP of power. It runs on Yokohama racing slicks and made its debut appearance at the 2010 Auto Expo. [click to continue…]

2012 Chevy Tavera Facelift photo

General Motors will be launching the Chevrolet Tavera facelift in India soon. The 2012 Tavera gets very slight upgrades to the exteriors, with the main change being the BSIV compliant engine. The 2.0-liter CRDI motor has been sourced from Sonalika and produces 100 PS of power. We spotted the Tavera undergoing rigorous tests at Rohtang a few months ago. These set of spy pictures were snapped at 12 AM, sporting GJ plates and being driven towards Mumbai. GM is expected to only launch the facelifted Tavera by the end of February and we can expect a price hike of Rs. 50,000/- over the BSIII version. [click to continue…]

Toyota will be launching the all new Camry at the 2012 Auto Expo. The Japanese automaker has sold 15 million units of the Camry across 100 countries till date. However India does not account for even 1% of those 15 million. The reason for this can be several, from the high price to the lack of a diesel heart. But Toyota now plans to price the new Camry aggressively by opting for local assembly. 2012 Toyota Innova Facelift1 photo

Toyota will be unveiling the Innova facelift at the upcoming Auto Expo. The Japanese automaker will only launch the 2012 Innova by the end of January. The new Innova has already been spotted multiple times and some media houses have even tested it. The changes to the exteriors are very minute, with the headlights now slightly squarish. The bumpers and grille have been modified, while the side profile remains the same. New alloy wheels debut on the 2012 Innova while the rear has slightly altered tail lamps. [click to continue…]
